Thanksgiving

Whoa!! The last few weeks have flown by!! Besides the craziness at school and the holidays, I have been busy at home too! We moved out of our house a couple weeks ago and are now staying with my parents while our house we are building gets finished! Talk about mass chaos!! November was just a blur and we worked on many things! We talked all about what Thanksgiving is about and where it originated from and we learned what being thankful means. Here is a peek at a few of the things we worked on.
We worked together with the other Kindergarten classes to decorate the hallway and post things we are thankful for!

These are our super cute long-legged turkeys!

We got together with the other Kindergarten classes to have a "feast" in our classrooms just like the Pilgrims and Native Americans!

We even got to cut open a "Popcorn Turkey!"

P Week

Last week was all about the letter "P." It is always such a fun letter to learn!! We did lots of fun things this week. One of the was to play "Roll a Pizza." All students got to play against a partner to see who could build their pizza first! They had a blast!

To end the week, we had Pajama and Pancake day!! The students all got to wear their pajamas to school! They were so cute! The rest of the school was jealous of us! We also did some writing about pancakes and then got to make our own pancakes as a special treat!! Yummy!

Mummies/Pumpkins

Whoa! The last couple weeks have gotten away from me! We have been super busy with teachers convention, testing, grades, and now Parent Teacher Conferences this week!! October has been lots of fun as well! During our short 3 day week, we spent time talking about Mummies! We read the book, "Where is My Mummy." This is a cute story with fun characters! We did lots of activities from the book and ended the we by creating our very own Mummies!

Last week was Pumpkin week. We had a ton of fun investigation, estimating, carving, and even tasting Pumpkin! We carved our very own class pumpkin which we named "Jack!" Everyone got a chance to look and FEEL what a pumpkin was like inside!! This was so much fun and it was great to see all the expressions on their faces when they reached their hands inside!!

Fire Safety

This week is Fire Safety Week. We have been reading stories, learning about safe things, and we made Fire trucks for art! Today we even got a special visit from a Firefighter! He talked to the class all about fire safety. He showed us stop drop and roll, how to crawl low in smoke, how to check our smoke alarms, and he told us that we should all have a plan with our families on how and where to go if there is a fire in our homes. He even showed us all his gear and told us what it all is for!
